Our aim is to promote and educate people in patchwork and quilting in particular and textile art and craft in general.
Through regular exhibitions, workshops and talks, we inspire people to appreciate and learn skills in quilting and textile art.Â
The Quilt Association hosts and cares for a nationally important, growing collection of antique and heritage quilts, many of which are from the local area. The collection is made available, by appointment, for study – for personal or research purposes and features in our exhibitions. Volunteers catalogue the items in the collection, arrange conservation work, and research individual items – looking at construction techniques, fabrics, quilting and patchwork styles and the social history of the maker.Â
Our biggest exhibition is in the summer running from July to September, and focuses on exhibiting quilts from our collection of 300 antique and heritage quilts.Â
Sitting alongside our annual programme is a series of workshops for both adults and children. Our workshops are textile art focused, our most popular workshop being An Introduction to Traditional Welsh Quilting.Â
