“Louisa May Alcott – I Am Not Afraid of Storms, for I’m Learning to Sail My Ship” Siddi Quilt 2025

This square Siddi quilt was hand-sewn by Rachel D’Ambrosio in 2025 and is entitled “Louisa May Alcott – I Am Not Afraid of Storms, for I’m Learning to Sail My Ship.” Made using scrap fabrics, scrap wadding and embroidery cotton, it measures 41 inches x 40 inches.The quilt forms part of Rachel’s ongoing Sewing for Wellbeing talk and is regularly displayed in public. Since creating her 2021 quilt, “We Are All Part of the Patchwork of Life,” Rachel has developed a meaningful series of quilts made in homage to influential people who made a genuine difference in the world, each incorporating a quote associated with them.This piece celebrates Louisa May Alcott’s inspiring words about courage, resilience and learning to navigate life’s challenges.
