If you caught our big first birthday video The UK’s Largest Quilting Association In Just One Year! you already heard the roar but we are now officially shouting it from the rooftops. The SHQA Team is overjoyed to announce our brand new charity partnership with the incredible Cats Protection!
We are joining forces for a very special mission “Operation Warm Beans”
When we dreamed about which charity we wanted to support, Cats Protection was at the very top of our wish list. Now, it’s official the UK’s largest cat welfare charity has teamed up with the UK’s largest quilting association!
How You Can Get Involved
We’re hosting a series of completely free sewing days both on Zoom and in-person to create cozy quilts for the cats waiting for their forever homes in pens across the UK.
The Specs:
Sizes: 20cm x 30cm (8” x 12”) and/or 40cm x 50cm (16” x 20”)
Materials: Any fabric you love! Use wadding or a soft fleece backing.
Safety First: Please, no embellishments (buttons, beads, or loose trim) we don’t want any curious kitties chewing on them!

Why It Matters
By joining “Operation Warm Beans” you aren’t just stitching fabric, you’re stitching together a quilt of love, warmth and comfort for a cat in need. Plus, you’re sending a huge hug from our quilting community to the new owners who will eventually take these quilts home together with a new member of their family.

We’ll be keeping a record of every donation before personally delivering them to the Cats Protection UK Cat Centre for distribution nationwide.
