Why should I join?

Because it is more than just a Quilting Association, it is a new fresh thinking to what a group of Quilters should be. It is vibrant, supportive community, where creativity, connection and joy come together. Abiding by the SHQA rules, you will be surrounded by like-minded people who share your passion for quilting.

What are the benefits?

With FREE membership, you can access a wealth of information about Suppliers, Workshops, Tutors and Groups in your area. You will receive our latest newsletters, blogs and access videos. Connect with other local quilters and create new lasting friendships. Have reassurance that by signing up to our rules regarding Civility, Inclusivity, Respect and Zero Tolerance to any forms of abuse, you are amongst great friends.

How is the SHQA funded?

The Sew Happy Quilters' Association is a business established to provide free online membership & directory services for individuals, tutors, groups and suppliers. We are committed to creating a friendly, welcoming community for quilters and sewing enthusiasts.

Offering free membership to everyone is a deliberate business decision. Our funding and financial arrangements are private and we kindly ask that you respect this policy so we can continue focusing on supporting our growing quilting and sewing community.

Are there any groups locally to me?

Absolutely! Please check our directory to find your local group.

Can I share my work and get feedback?

Absolutely! Please email hello@shqa.co.uk, send us photos of your fabulous sewing and quilts, and with your permission we will display them in our website gallery. As the ethos of The Sew Happy Quilters' Association is not to judge, if you ask for feedback we might offer advice on things such as wadding to use, but we will not judge your work. Any feedback will come from a place of positivity and encouragement.

Does the SHQA have their own quilt shows, and can I exhibit a quilt?

Yes we do! Our first SHQA Quilt Show was held in Brighton in September 2026, our next show is being planned for September 2027. If you want to exhibit your quilt we would love to show it off for you. Just email hello@shqa.co.uk to get involved.

What skill levels are catered to within the membership?

Every skill level is catered for, even if you want to learn how to thread a needle, you can start your quilting journey with us. From developing your patchwork skills as a novice, or even if you a master quilter, you can join us. We welcome all levels of skill!

How is membership feedback handled?
